  2. Photochemistry of vitamin B12 derivatives from historical perspective; alkyl vs. non-alkyl cobalamins; base-on vs. base-off conformations; triplet states (1hr);
  3. Computational approach; modeling structural and electronic properties of cobalamins in solution and inside enzymatic environment; activation of Co-C bond (1hr);
  4. Photochemistry of B12-dependent enzymes such as EAL and GLM or MetH and MetH with mutation; photoreceptor CarH (1hr).

  1. Role of metals in biology; introduction to electronic structure of transition metals and ligand field theory; structure of metalloproteins (1hr);
  2. Protein Data Bank (PDB) as resource for chemical, biochemical, and structural explorations of biomolecules with transition metals; heme-containing metalloproteins, non-heme systems, B12-dependent enzymes (1hr);
  3. Introduction to molecular mechanics (MM), Density Functional Theory (DFT) and combined QM/MM approach to elucidate structure, reactivity and spectroscopic properties of metalloproteins (1hr);
  4. Reaction pathways; location of transition states (TSs); spectroscopic properties of selected metalloenzymes (1hr).
