On 27 March 2023, the Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the Republic of Poland Prof. Anastase Shayka visited the University of Silesia. He delivered a guest lecture in the Kazimierz Lepszy Lecture Hall entitled ‘Rwanda. Relations with Poland and opportunities for cooperation’. The event enjoyed great popularity — after the lecture, students of International Studies in Political Science and Diplomacy took part in the discussion with the ambassador.
Prof. A Shyaki’s visit started with a meeting with representatives of university authorities: Katarzyna Trynda, PhD, Vice-Rector for Education and Students, Prof. Tomasz Pietrzykowski, Vice-Rector for International and Domestic Cooperation, and Renata Jankowska, PhD, Assoc. Prof. — Degree Programme Director: Political and Public Counselling, Political Science, National and International Security, and International Studies in Political Science and Diplomacy. The representatives of the International Relations Department also participated in the meeting with the ambassador. The talks concerned strengthening research and scientific cooperation with universities from Rwanda and the educational offer in English. During the meeting, the possibilities and benefits resulting from establishing bilateral cooperation were discussed.
Prof. A. Shyaka also met with Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, Rector of the University of Silesia. The ambassador was presented with the university’s development mission resulting from its policy to intensify internationalisation.
