submitting applications
Information needed for the proper submission of the applications are available:
- in the e-application system – after clicking the icon
- in the paper form – information included in the content of the application
- in the Regulations of the University Social Benefits Fund
The information concern, among others, supplying the following documents for review by the University Social Benefits Fund employee:
- the ID,
- the original invoice (in the case of camps for the employees’ children),
- certificate of disability.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- submitting the application by the person entitled to the benefits (the e-application or the paper application)
- submitting the holiday application that confirms the required holiday period (holiday taken must not be shorter than 14 consecutive calendar days) to the Social Affairs Department:
- non-academics submit the holiday application signed by their direct superior;
- academics define in their application what holiday period from their organizational unit holiday plan will be used.
Caution! Pensioners and disability pensioners (former University of Silesia employees) are not obliged to define their holiday time or to submit the holiday application.
- in the case of application for children’s holiday, the entitled person should submit the following documents (if applicable):
- the school/student’s ID card (applies to the child who is above 18),
- certificate of the significant degree of disability,
- the invoices that confirm the expenses connected with their child’s holiday that they bore (applies to summer/winter camps, organized holiday) – submitted together with the application
RULES OF GRANTING BENEFITS
Due to introduction of one application form for multiple social benefits (the so-called Holiday allowance and Christmas allowance), the applications for the social welfare benefit for the winter expenses (the so-called Christmas allowance) should be submitted within the period from the 15th of April 2026 till the 15th of October 2026, that is together with the application for holiday benefit (Christmas allowance).
Pay-out of the social welfare for the increased winter expenses (the so-called Christmas allowance) depends on the financial resources of the Social Fund and may be realized in November-December 2026.
INCOME THRESHOLD
Calculation of the income threshold
The income is calculated based on the total of all incomes earned in the previous calendar year by the entitled person, and by the persons living together in the same household and supporting themselves jointly with the entitled person (that is, living together and supporting themselves jointly).
The total of incomes of all the persons shall be divided by 12 months, and then divided by the number of people living in the same household (the number of people living in the same household and supporting themselves jointly at the time of submitting the application).
The maximum amounts of benefits (co-financing) for the entitled employees (pensioner/disability pensioner) and their children are defined in Appendix no. 1 to the Regulations of the University Social Benefits Fund.

PERSONS ENTITLED TO SOCIAL BENEFITS
- employees of the University of Silesia in Katowice (employed on the basis of employment contract, regardless of the worktime, including the employees on the maternity leave, paternal leave, childcare leave, unpaid leave, health leave, and convalescent leave)
- former employees of the University of Silesia in Katowice, who retired or receive disability pension (hereinafter referred to as “pensioners/disability pensioners – former employees”);
- children – employees’ biological children, adopted children, foster children, the children supported by the employee or the former employee of the University of Silesia in Katowice (pensioner/disability pensioner)
